About Our School

Tŷ-Jia English Language School is an English as a second language (ESL) school. We specialise in teaching adults whose home language (mother tongue) is not English. We can’t wait to meet you and help you achieve your goals!

Over 20 Years of Teaching

From Living Room to Language School

Tŷ-Jia was founded in 2015 by our Director, Jayne Soh. Jayne spent 20 years teaching in language schools, international schools, primary and secondary schools before finally deciding to realise her dream of opening her own school. Tŷ-Jia evolved from two or three students in Jayne’s living room to a small rented classroom in a heritage building in Chinatown. In February 2019, as word spread and more students joined, it was time to open the Tŷ-Jia English Language School you know today.

Learning Japanese for Business

The teacher’s lesson is using a textbook but it’s a lot of fun because of all the games and activities. Before this, I had only studied in Japan. The native teacher’s lesson is fresh and more practical. At first I was worried about the explanation in English, but now I am relaxed. The school is good, even for beginners.
